Waco Walks

Waco Walks is an informal group that grew out of the efforts of Act Locally Waco. Our group encourages Wacoans to get to know their community by walking it.   We host several walks a year in various parts of the community.  Sometimes we just walk and enjoy the scenery, and many times we include an educational element such as history or science in the city.  We also advocate for making Waco a more walkable community.  All are welcome! We would love to have you join us.

DESCRIPTION:

The Waco Downtown Redevelopment Project is a comprehensive 12 to 20-year initiative led by the City of Waco in partnership with Hunt Development Group, aimed at revitalizing downtown Waco into a vibrant, mixed-use urban area.  This project encompasses five distinct districts across more than 100 acres along Waco's beautiful Brazos River - offering amenities, business, and experiences that embrace our residents and visitors.  In the first phase, Waco's rich history and culture will take center stage through signature public spaces including highly walkable parks, plazas, and open spaces in an area known as Barron's Branch.  Walk with us to explore the rich past and the exciting future.

Tom Balk, City of Waco Director of Strategic Initiatives, will lead our tour with an emphasis on the history and future of Barron’s Branch. We will step off May 3 at 9:00 AM at Heritage Square, 311 Austin Ave., Waco, Texas 76701.  Come explore!
